HaugaardBraad has advised Absalon Properties on a transaction bringing property owners together and establishing a foundation for the further development of substantial areas within Eriksborg, an ambitious new urban district planned by Silkeborg Municipality.

The transaction represents an important preparatory step in the development of Eriksborg, where the transformation of land into a new residential and commercial community requires not only urban planning and infrastructure investment, but also carefully structured legal and corporate arrangements.

HaugaardBraad's involvement focused on the transaction that brought the owners together, creating the basis for the future development of larger sub-areas within the project.

Eriksborg: a new district for 7,000 residents

Located northeast of Silkeborg, between the existing communities of Gødvad and Grauballe, Eriksborg is one of the municipality's major long-term urban development projects.

According to Silkeborg Municipality, the new district is expected to accommodate approximately 7,000 residents in 3,800 homes by 2040.

The development is planned in four stages, combining different housing types with commercial areas, public services, transport infrastructure and extensive green spaces.

At its centre will be a new neighbourhood hub incorporating educational facilities, childcare, services for older residents, shops and community spaces. The municipality's plans place particular emphasis on nature, sustainability and community life, with green and recreational areas forming an integral part of the district's design.

The legal foundations of urban development
