JLSW Secures Polish Power Trading Concession for Non-EEA Client

Jul 18, 2024 – Poznan, Poland

JLSW Janaszczyk Lis & Wspolnicy Law Firm is pleased to announce that our firm has been successful in the process of helping a foreign client obtain the license to trade in electricity on the Polish market.

Our client, a part of  an international capital group  specializing in energy trading on the Day-Ahead and Intraday markets, operates outside the European Economic Area (EEA). The expansion strategy of the group includes active onboarding on key European energy exchanges, such as  EPEX SPOT, SEMOPX, EEX, ICE, IPEX and NORDPOOL.

"Today, more than ever before, electricity trading has become one of the key elements of security in both economic and individual life. It is therefore necessary to strive for flexible, transparent and easily accessible tools for trading electricity both nationally and across borders in the European Union as well as in Ukraine. I am glad that at JLSW we are seeing increasing interest from our clients in this part of the business", says Tomasz Janaszczyk, JLSW Managing Partner and member of the Legal Netlink Alliance Europe Board.

Key to Success: Comprehensive Service and Experience

JLSW has acquired in-depth knowledge and expertise of the Polish energy legislation. But for this case what equally mattered was our ability to coordinate activities with the client's many international bodies. Our firm provided this international group with support at every stage of the concession process, which included:

– Preparation and submission of required documentation : we have meticulously prepared all necessary documents, ensuring their compliance with legal requirements

– Representing the Client before the Energy Regulatory Office (URE ): we managed all contacts with URE, taking care of each stage of the administrative process.

– Ensuring procedural and legal compliance : we monitored the client’s compliance with Polish law at every step, ensuring the smoothness of the entire process.

Specialization and Effectiveness

Many years of experience in the field of energy law have enabled us to efficiently and effectively conduct the entire concession process. Knowledge of the specifics of the energy industry and a flexible approach have allowed us to provide optimal customer support, adapting our activities to their individual needs and market requirements.

A Milestone in Expansion

Obtaining a license to trade in electricity is a significant step in the development of our client on the Polish energy market. We are proud to have played a key role in this process, supporting the expansion of the international energy group and enabling its further development in Europe.
